This year’s winner of Womenswear Designer of the year award at the recent British Fashion Awards is Christopher Kane. The has been a great year for Kane as he has already received recognition by Kering, the French Luxury conglomerate, which has predicted that he will be the star of the future in fashion.
Some new entries to the fashion world who were signed by LVMH, which is one of Kering’s major competitors scooped some awards during the event. For instance, Nicholas Kirkwood was the Accessory Designer of the Year award winner while JW Anderson was the New Establishment Designer award winner. Some participants went on to win several awards including Burberry who won two awards by clinching the Menswear Designer of the Year and Designer Brand of the Year awards.
This was a competitive activity that saw some people being beaten at their game including Cara Delevingne and Sam Rollinson who was beaten by Edie Campbell in the Model of the Year award. The International Designer of the Year prize went to Miuccia Prada.
According to the chairperson of the British Fashion Council, the event displays the wealth of talent in the fashion industry. The purpose of the event is to showcase everyone whether they won any award or not and to show their contribution towards fashion. Natalie Massenet, the chairperson of British fashion council was quick to note how ideal the event was located.
