About us
Hi

Thank you for popping in to our shop. If you're reading this section I assume you've had a look around, maybe you've seen something you like and you wondered "Hmm who are the owners of this delightful shop?", well since you ask..
Once upon a time there was a little girl called Jemma and she grew up in the 80's when stilettos were white, hair was big and pop stars stored shuttlecocks in their shorts!!! Jemma was an odd little girl who kept a picture of Cary Grant in her purse and watched black and white films. She thought that when she grew up she would like to look like Jayne Russell, marry Cary Grant and live happily ever after. But she married a very nice bloke called Chris and they live in a little house in the North East of England with their dog Mr.Moo Then after a while the nice bloke Chris noticed that their little house had been turned into a shrine to the delights of mid century bits n bobs. Then a funny little baby called Poppy came along and Jemma and Chris thought it would be a hoot if they could work from home so that Poppy could be with mummy. So they decided to open a little virtual vintage shop and sell the things they love to nice people like you.

We believe in clothes that make you look cool and clothes that make you feel amazing. Don't save clothes for best, wear them now.to the supermarket.to take the dog for a walk...who cares what folk say...you know you look cool so smile and enjoy!
If you're looking for something particular let me know.I'd love to track it down for you.

Now for the boring bit...

Sizing is always a bit tricky when dealing with vintage clothing because measurements/sizing has changed over the years. A 50s dress marked size 12 is NOT the same as a modern size 12. For this reason we always list the garments labelled size (if there is one) but please make your selection from the actual measurements listed. Please see the diagrams below to see where we take our measurements..

Here is some other information that may help you when determining an item fit potential.

* When a hip measurement is listed as FULL that means the skirt will fit most hip measurements due to shape of garment.

* Elastic waistlines will be listed with UNSTRETCHED measurement and FULLY STRETCHED measurement.

* On KNIT GARMENTS or items with stretch we will try to give a suggested range of fit. If there is not a range given we have simply taken the measurement, not stretching the item, however there will usually be an inch or so in ease due to stretch of fabric or knit construction. Please inquire on any particular item you are not clear about.

* On WRAP dresses, tops and skirts we also try to give an average fit range. If there is not a range given the measurement is a flat measurement of the largest possible size.

* SHOE sizes are given if found, otherwise a measurement is taken from the inside tip of toe to inside heel. Please feel free to ask about any particular shoe.

Preferred payment method is by credit card using the online checkout.
We also except personal cheques and cash sent by registered mail, if you wish to use either of these two systems please email or call for details.

We believe all items to be genuine vintage unless stated otherwise but despite researching and using our knowledge we may occasionally get it wrong. If this happens it would be unfortunate but unintentional and if you are not satisfied that we have described the item correctly please contact us immediately after receiving the item to discuss an amicable solution.

As with most vintage goods it is expected that there will be some signs of wear. We will always endeavour to point out any defects or very obvious signs of wear. Items are therefore sold on a sold as seen basis. All items we sell are what we deem to be wearable or useable and we will not sell any item, which we would not either wear personally or display in our own home. If you need to know more information before you make a purchase about the condition of an item please email us or telephone us and we will be happy to discuss it with you. Our rating guide gives you an idea how we assess the condition of an item.

  • As New would be an item that is new old stock (goods which are vintage but were never sold to a customer and therefore were never used) or appears to be boxed or have the original labels/price tags still attached.
  • Excellent would be items which we believe have been worn either once or twice only or extremely well cared for and therefore bear little or no signs of wear.
  • Very Good is what we would use to describe items which have been used and possibly have signs of wear which may include alterations like replaced zippers/buttons, other sewing alterations, small holes or small stains etc.
  • Good condition is what we will refer to when items show signs of wear such as discoloration, missing parts such as belts etc, noticeable staining or odours which we can't get rid of, small defects which can only be seen on close inspection.

All our items carry a description that includes details of any flaws and the general condition so please pay close attention to this.
